Lenders are a key component to your real estate transaction. They can fix big hiccups, anticipate issues, and go a long way to setting you up for a great transaction even before you tour your first house. You can go through a bank or a mortgage broker, both having their advantages. Banks are often willing to go deeper in the pre-qualification process than a mortgage broker, so you have more confidence you can get the loan for the house you choose. Mortgage brokers, on the other hand, might have access to more loan products than a bank. Either way, choosing the right person or group can make all the difference.
At Rocket Realty, we can’t get over our crush on People’s Bank. They answer their phone (seriously, why is this so hard for some people?), get
right back to us when we need information, and they treat their clients like gold. I imagine there is just one phrase on the whiteboard in their office between team meetings. GET IT DONE. These guys and gals certainly do get it done, and they are a blast to work with in the process.

Here’s what I like the best about them:
- They have something called the Buyer Ready Program. They don’t send buyers out with a pre-approval letter based on a couple of questions over a phone call. People’s Bank arms their clients with underwritten pre-qualifications that are solid. This allows their clients to close as soon as the due diligence is completed, which is a beloved departure from the 30-45 days to close most lenders require. You might not need the quick close, but it could be a valuable negotiating tool for sellers who need that flexibility.
- Another one of my favorite things about People’s Bank is that they believe consumers deserve better than what they’ve gotten from lenders in the past. We’ve shared a few beers over this topic, and their passion for improving the marketplace for consumers matched ours – no small feat! They aren’t afraid of different, and they are committed to better. Sound familiar? Their tagline says it all, “Banking Unusual.” Isn’t that brilliant?
